Adolescent Albatross Visits Observatory

Adolescent outside ObservatoryssThis morning an adolescent albatross landed in the colony and fell asleep within one metre of the side window of the Richdale Observatory at the Royal Albatross Centre. Three tour groups off the cruise ship Radiance of the Seas had the ultimate experience of having their photos taken right next to the bird…through the observatory window. Two hours later the bird woke up and flew away.
This the closest we have ever had a bird settle next to the Observatory” said Centre Manager Mark Jurisich, “it was truly a unique experience for those who saw it. We can always hope the bird comes back to make a nest there, after all, it is nearly Christmas!
